Saturday, March 16, 2024 - It is normally held on March 17th, except when that is a Sunday!
Starting at 12 pm starting at Rice Park, traveling down 5th St, and ending at Mears Park.. See their
website.
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is traditionally held on March 17th unless it falls on a Holy Day or a Sunday.
In normal years, the Parade travels along 5th Avenue from Wacauta Street to Rice Park. If you want an interactive Google map, so you can get directions to some point along the parade route, click here!
Why is the parade on Saturday, March 16th, and not March 17th like usual?
Since the parade began in 1967, it has been tradition that if St.
Patrick's Day (March 17th) falls on a holy day or Sunday, the parade is held the day before.
The parade will be the same as last year,
starting at Rice Park (5th St & Market St) and ending near Mears Park (5th St & Sibley St), traveling along 5th Street.
The past place to
park is in lots & ramps along Kellogg and north of 6th St E. The staging area usually closes each year at 10 am. Then, 5th St E and intersecting
roads between 6th St E & 4th St E close at 11 am..
If it is a cold day, bring a warm hat, warm gloves, and warm shoes. For a sunny day, you’ll want to bring sunglasses, suntan lotion, and a hat. The parade goes on rain, shine or snow. And of course, it is traditional to be dressed in GREEN (or orange or white - colors of the Irish flag)!
Mass transit is a great way to get in and out to see the parade.
If you want more information, such as to participate in the parade or become a sponsor, see the parade's official website here...
